IGF 2016: Enabling Inclusive and Sustainable Growth

The 2016 Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is scheduled to take place at the PALCCO Centre from 6-9 December 2016 in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The 2016 overall programme and intersessional activities are being built in a bottom-up manner in consultation with the growing IGF multistakeholder community, with an aim to enhance participation from stakeholders from developing countries, youth and those joining the IGF online.

The GIPO Observatory Tool will be showcased during the European Commission Open Forum on the 7th December at 9.00.

GIPO is a tool to help stakeholders, in particular those with limited resources, to understand and engage in these issues, and is an effective and efficient tool to build capacity and increase inclusiveness in discussions.

The GIPO initiative is taking part in the dialogue with the IGF community during the Internet Governance Observatories Open Forum on the 8th December at 9.00.

The session will seek to understand the journey and inherent needs when using and sharing information on Internet Governance from a community perspective.

Building Better Multistakeholderism: GIPO'S Role in Promoting Debates on Internet Governance

Resulting from a physical meeting of the GIPO Advisory Group, on the fringes of EuroDIG earlier in 2016, the Institute for European Studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel is pleased to publish a Policy Brief on "Building Better Multistakeholderism", and more specifically, GIPO's role in promoting debates on Internet Governance. The short Brief places GIPO's Observatory Tool in a broader context of internet governance debates, and tries to show where it provides added value to enriching debates on the topic. It finishes with a list of recommendations that grew out of the public workshops held in May 2016.
